During a barricaded incident, officers forced entry due to concern for imminent death. The reporting officer described a very large inner-left-thigh laceration with arterial bleeding pouring from the wound. While the reporting officer remained on long gun, another officer applied the 1-inch ETQ high on the left leg. The tourniquet was tightened and reportedly immediately stopped the excessive bleeding. CAT tourniquets were used on both arms for separate wrist wounds.
The reporting officer, who described 14 years of law-enforcement and five years of military experience, called it the worst arterial bleed seen without total limb loss and stated the incident gave substantial faith in the product.
