Assess the patient
- Get to safety and ensure the situation is safe.
- Call 911 and ensure help is on the way.
- Check for major bleeding across the patient’s entire body.
- Check the patient’s airway to make sure it’s unobstructed.
- Check the patient is breathing and has a pulse.
- Keep the patient warm - hypothermia can set in quickly with blood loss.
- Continually monitor the patient.
- Ensure emergency medical services are on their way.
