ETQ Gen 2 instructions

How to apply a tourniquet1:31

Steps

  1. Expose bare skin, two to three inches above the wound, never over a joint.
  2. Pull the strap as tight as you can by hand, then turn the windlass until the bleeding stops.
  3. Lock the windlass, write the time on the strap, and do not remove it.

Additional trauma steps

  • Run your hands over the casualty's whole body, checking for further wounds. Apply another tourniquet to a limb if you find one.
  • Check the airway is clear and that they are breathing.
  • Use spare clothing to keep them warm. Blood loss brings on hypothermia, even in summer.
  • Confirm emergency services are on the way, and keep checking them over until help arrives.
